Zone de Texte: Art and Gourmet Tour with Marie-Pierre (Painting Session in Provence) Transfers and transportation not included DAY 1, Monday - Welcome to Provence - Welcome Dinner Arrival in the afternoon. You will be greeted at the B&B by your hosts for the week. Welcome party. Marie-Pierre will share with you a Provencal welcome aperitif. Each participant will receive a detailed art program of the week, including places of interest, diners menus and any useful information. Schedule of the upcoming week and painting workout organization will be detailed. Feel free to ask any questions to Marie-Pierre or to your B&B’ hosts. 7.30 p.m. : Dinner at a fine Provencal bistro-style restaurant. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DAY 2, Tuesday - Painting Experience 1 & Dinner - Guided Visit and Painting on Site: Abbaye de Sénanque e Free Visit Suggestion : Gordes and its Market of Provence Gourmet breakfast on the terrace. Morning Free.  Discover Gordes on market day, “one of the most beautiful villages in France”, its Château, museum, craft shops and the mysterious Village des Bories. Take pleasure in sketching the colorful market, the old houses, the people of Provence, etc. Have your lunch (at your own) at one of the good restaurants nestled in the narrow streets. 2 p.m. : Guided visit to the “Abbaye de Sénanque" and painting on site : In the surroundings of Gordes, we will discover in a sea of lavender and bathed in the sun the splendid Cistercian monastery Abbaye de Sénanque founded in 1148. Full visit and painting on the site with Marie-Pierre : enjoy sketching with soft pastels. 5.30 p.m. : Cheese degustation. Relax just before your first art workout experience in Provence and test one of the most famous French cheeses (more than 400 in France !). Apéritif and “Vins du Pays” will be served at your discretion with seasonal fruits and a typical countryside fresh bread. A marvelous combination for gourmet palate! 6 p.m. : Painting workout. Under Marie-Pierre’s supervision, painting workouts are definitely "hands-on”. Marie-Pierre will follow each participant in his work. Each workout will concentrate on different technical aspects (composition, drawing, colors,...). Landscape painting : select one of your sketches made in the morning and start one of the master pieces that you will be happy to bring back home. 8 p.m. : Dinner under the stars. A traditional apéritif will be served and the Chef will comment every dishes and wines which go with the different recipes, from the delectable “vins du pays” to the famous French wines such as Châteaneuf-du-Pape, Tavel, Ggondas, etc.. A classic digestif dégustation will conclude your dinner under the stars of Provence. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DAY 3, Wednesday - Painting Experience 2 & Dinner e Free Visit and Painting Site Suggestion : Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and its Market of Provence Gourmet breakfast on the terrace. free Visit. Discover Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and its famous Provencal market where small farmers and market gardeners set up simple trestle tables, and unload boxes of fruit and vegetables harvested only hours before at the peak of ripeness. Enjoy an “apéritif” at one of the colorful “café du marché ”and after a lunch (on your own), walk on the path of Van Gogh ! In this Roman city which symbolizes beautifully the essence of Provence, Van Gogh painted his most famous art works while he was interned at Saint-Paul-de-Mausole Hospital (don’t miss Van Gogh’s workroom and bedroom). Visit also Musée Van Gogh and don’t forget the fabulous excavated site of Glanum, a city developed under Hellenistic influence, then by the Roman under Marius and Caesar (49 BC). 5.30 p.m. : Cheese degustation. Apéritif and a different cheese with fresh fruits and a crispy countryside bread. 6 p.m. : Painting workout.. Select one of the sketches of the day to work it out and discover the oil pastels technique or keep working on your master piece. 8 p.m. : Dinner under the stars with great wine and digestif. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DAY 4, Thursday - Day Free e Free Visit and Painting Site Suggestion : Avignon and the Banks of Rhone River. Gourmet breakfast on the terrace. Day free. Spend the day in Avignon, a city of art and culture which stretches in all its beauty along the banks of the Rhône river. Stroll along the streets of the ancient “City of the Popes” which is surrounded by ramparts and stop at the markets of flowers and food. Then, visit the splendid Musée Calvet and Musée Lapidaire. Lunch at “La Vieille Fontaine” Restaurant. Facing the Palais des Papes, stands the luxurious Hotel de l’Europe (****) and its top class restaurant “La Vieille Fontaine”. Acclaimed by the prestigious Guide Michelin and by all respected guide-books, this restaurant offers spectacular food and a fine service according to the best tradition of French Haute Cuisine. An unforgettable experience! Time for shopping. After your lunch, discover the renowned largest medieval palace in Europe “Le Palais des Papes”. Visit also the Musée du Petit Palais, the Romanesque cathedral Notre-Dame-des-Dom, the Ramparts (fortification built in the 14C by the popes) and the amazing Pont Bezenet. Before dinner (on your own), have a drink at the animated Place de l’Horloge. Avignon is a tremendous place offering numerous opportunities for sketching Provencal life. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DAY 5, Friday - Painting Experience 3 & Dinner e Free Visit & Painting Site Suggestion : Lourmarin - the Ciscertian Abbaye de Silvacane. Gourmet breakfast on the terrace. free visit. Enjoy a bustling Market of Provence! Lourmarin ,at the foot of the Montagne du Luberon, is an other lovely village ranked as one of “ the most beautiful villages in France”. You will stroll along the animated streets where stand the colorful and fragrant “Marché de Provence”, art galleries and restaurants. Have a look at the numerous boutiques : this is the right place to buy local art crafts and Provencal souvenirs. Then after your lunch (on your own), visit the Château de Lourmarin (15C-Renaissance style). Don’t miss one of the three magnificent typical Provencal cistercian abbeys : the Abbaye de Silvacane. 5.30 p.m. : Cheese degustation. Apéritif and an other cheese with fresh fruits, olive or walnut bread. 6 p.m. : Painting workout. Discover how to express your emotion through Art work ! Keep working on your master piece or go on starting a new one, recently inspired by the scenery discovered today. 8 p.m. : Dinner under the stars with great wine and digestif. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DAY 6, Saturday - Painting Experience 4 - Diploma Ceremony & Gala Dinner Guided Visit and Painting on Site : Roussillon and the “ Provencal Colorado” e Free Visit and Painting Site Suggestion : Apt and its Fabulous Market of Provence  Gourmet breakfast on the terrace. Free visit. Visit Apt a small bustling town renowned for crystallized fruits, lavender essence, truffles and its important Marché de Provence. Have a nice aperitif and your lunch at one of the typical bistros. 2 p.m.: Guided visit to Roussillon & painting on site: With Marie-Pierre, discover this beautiful and amazing Provencal landscape: the ochre cliffs surrounding the spectacular perched village of Roussillon. Sketching, painting, drawing will be a privileged moment ! 5.30 p.m. : Cheese degustation with fresh fruits and another type of French bread. 6 p.m. : Painting workout. That is now the time to put the final touch to your master pieces. Final hanging ! Around 7.30 p.m. : Diploma & Champagne Ceremony followed by... Gala Farewell Dinner. The specialty of the day : a traditional festive dish such as Bouillabaisse, Paella Valenciana, le Grand Aïoli, etc.. served with great wine, digestif and... sadness that it has come to an end. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DAY 7, Sunday Farewell Day and Departure Farewell breakfast on the terrace. Before leaving, enjoy a last gourmet breakfast and share your impressions with your newly found friends.
